ResalesChattanooga, Tennessee Housing Market Choo-choos Along
Continuing low interest rates coupled with spectacular scenery is making the Chattanooga, Tennessee market popular with homebuyers.
"With the recent fluctuations in interest rates there is a lot of real estate moving," says Realtor Jeffrey Criminger. "We are seeing a lot of people getting into real estate investment. It is a good time for first-time home buyers. There are some great deals on upper end properties, because many people are upgrading."
Agrees Realtor George Patten, "Low interest rates continue to drive the activity in the Chattanooga market. Home buying continues at a steady clip. Several areas are extremely hot in terms of interest. The downtown revitalization along the Tennessee River is driving the real estate market in downtown and North Chattanooga. New condos with river views are in the works. Values of single-family homes in North Chattanooga are increasing ahead of the average. New construction is brisk in the East Brainerd and Hixson areas."
Patten explains, "Chattanooga has entered a new phase of aggressively marketing the city for new industry with the Enterprise South Development. The city leaders are promoting Chattanooga as the center of the technology corridor between Huntsville and Oak Ridge. The city-owned high-speed internet access is the catalyst for Chattanooga"s participation. Recreation is the centerpiece for enjoying the Chattanooga area. Blessed with beautiful mountains and local rivers, outdoor activity abounds. Bicycling, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, boating, and fishing are drawing enthusiasts from everywhere. We have greenways, river walks, and recreational parks galore. Come enjoy the excitement in Chattanooga."
"Throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding counties the inventory of housing for sale is strong," observes Realtor Margaret Adams. "Homes that are priced right sell quickly and at a higher price. Condition of the property is quite important in pricing and days on the market. Buyers can afford to be picky because rates are great and inventory is available. However, if owners have location, condition and price in line, they can sell quickly and without reducing the price."
