EPA Offers New Test For Mold

Lighthouse Laboratories, LLC announced today that it is now able to perform a DNA based test developed by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the detection of toxic mold (Stachybotrys Chartarum) using real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Only a few laboratories in the country are able to perform this state of the art testing procedure. Testing for toxic mold has become a significant issue with mortgage brokers, banks, home inspectors, realtors, building owners and managers, homebuyers, as well as individual homeowners. Lighthouse Laboratories #610 Toxic Mold Panel uses a DNA approach, which is considered highly accurate in obtaining quantitative readings for up to 100 different molds, including the toxic molds. Previous tests, relying on individuals to grow and ship live cultures, have proven to yield significant variances including false positives as well as false negatives. Lighthouse Laboratories Vice President of Sales Ned Bedrio noted, "We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this quality level of testing. There is too much at stake, both money and health, to settle for anything less." Lighthouse Laboratories will announce availability and pricing in the near future, although it is expected that testing will sell for an introductory rate of around $200. Concerned or interested parties may contact Lighthouse Laboratories at this time to pre-arrange testing starting May 15th, 2002. Lighthouse Laboratories, LLC, is located in Park Ridge, Illinois near O"Hare airport, allowing for ease of transport of samples. Each day our Websites touch every corner of the globe, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So it is critical how we conduct ourselves as licensed professionals, as the shadow cast by our Internet or e-commerce marketing magnifies our public image even more so. The world is watching, it’s time we address our behavior, by paying more attention and reviewing the information we place on our Websites.
